Why are we even policing our borders? After migrants illegally cross into the United States, they’re simply caught, and released further from the border.
Fox News reported, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas admitted Sunday that the vast majority of Haitian migrants who crossed the southern U.S. border in recent weeks have already been released into the United States, and it is possible that more will follow them.
So far, approximately 12,400 of the people are having their cases heard by immigration judges, while another 5,000 are being processed by the Department of Homeland Security. Currently,, only 3,000 are in detention.
Chris Wallace badgered Secretary Mayorkas. Mayorkas explained that the captured individuals are put in court proceedings and monitored by the DHS as the law requires it.
Wallace referenced a statistic that 44% of all captured illegals released from DHS custody miss all of their court hearings and simply disappear.
Bail exists in the United States to ensure that citizens who have committed a crime, and are a flight risk appear before the judge.
Illegal immigrants, are apparently not held to the same standard despite being at incredibly large risk of fleeing and not appearing in court.
The proceedings referenced by Mayorkas take roughly 6 months to one year’s time to conclude.
Mayorkas simply insisted that the systems in place work despite being unable to account for nearly half of all illegal immigrants released from custody.
As these people are not citizens of the United States, and have committed a crime simply by existing within its borders, these individuals should be detained until court proceedings can be had.
