According to the New York Post, the firearm did in fact contain one live round that ultimately killed Hutchins.

Anthony Pawluc who is the Secretary Treasurer of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees said that the singular bullet hit  “both the Director of Photography, Local 600 member Halnya Hutchins, and Director Joel Souza.”

Many are confused as to how a prop gun could kill a person, or even fire a real bullet… well… “prop guns” aren’t exactly “props.” They’re almost always real functioning firearms that shoot blank rounds loaded with gun powder but without a projectile. This makes the guns largely non lethal or even harmful.

Some rare accidents to occur with blank rounds, but it seems like a stretch that a real bullet was loaded into a gun meant only for movie sets.

Make no mistake, the incident is not Baldwins fault. Unless he himself loaded the gun, he would have no knowledge of the imminent danger.

Actors are not responsible for loading the weapons they use on set. A prop master loads weapons and makes sure that other props are safe for the actors to use.

Twitter users have already begun calling Baldwin a “murderer” and calling for his arrest despite there being no fault on his part.
