Even after being caught in yet another lie, this time about her experiences in the Capitol Building Riot, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) still refuses to apologize to Senator Ted Cruz for a baseless accusation she made on Twitter.
Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer accompanied AOC on Monday for a press conference in Queens, New York to announce $2 billion in government assistance for funeral/cremation services will be given to the families of those who lost someone due to COVID-19.
Afterward, a reporter asked if she would apologize for the comments she about Cruz.
She responded with a lie and said, “Ok. So um. That’s not the quote and, um, and I will not apologize for what I said.”
Before any further questions could be asked, another person interjected and said, “Guys, I think we’re actually done this morning.”
On January 28, AOC retweeted a tweet made by Cruz where he agreed with her about Robinhood’s decision to block people from investing in certain stocks was wrong.
AOC wrote she would work with Republicans but then said, “you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out.”
“Happy to work w/(with) almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign,” she continued.
Republican Congressman, Chip Roy, called on Ocasio-Cortez to apologize for the statement in a letter he wrote to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In it, he wrote, “It is completely unacceptable behaviour for a member of Congress to make this kind of scurrilous charge against another member in the House or Senate for simply engaging in speech and debate regarding electors as they interpreted the Constitution.”
