Audio Reveals DC Children’s Hospital Offers ‘Gender Affirming’ Hysterectomies

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. has reportedly offered “gender-affirming” hysterectomies for kids under the age of 21.

An archived web page from earlier this month on the hospital’s website showed “gender-affirming medical care and gender-affirming hysterectomy” as services offered for “patients between the ages of 0-21.”

It has been modified and no longer states that the gynecology program offers gender-affirming hysterectomies for children.

The hospital’s practices were first reported by Libs of TikTok.

Discussing the hospital’s website, the Libs of TikTok founder said “I thought perhaps this was just poor wording. Maybe they actually refuse to perform hysterectomies on minors under the age of 18, but failed to make that clear on this page. So I decided to call and find out.”

They called the hospital asking about the hysterectomy procedure for a 16-year-old.

After being transferred, one hospital worker asked the founder what their child’s gender changed to in order to help them.

The worker said she would transfer the caller to the right line so they could get help for the procedure.

“Okay. So they would do it for that age?” the founder asked.

“Yes,” the worker responded.

Libs of TikTok then asked if the procedure was common for the age of 16, to which the worker said “Yes. We have all different types of age groups that come in for that.”

When asked if they perform the surgery on younger children, the worker said “I have seen younger kids. And I’m not, you know, due to HIPAA, I’m not allowed to say that, but I have seen younger kids.”

Fox News Digital asked the hospital about the recording and a spokesperson said the call “reflects a call with hospital operators not anyone who delivers care to our patients.”

“We do not provide gender-affirming surgery for anyone under the age of 18. We do not provide hormone therapy to children before puberty begins,” a spokesperson told the outlet.

When asked about the webpage, the spokesperson said “that was a flaw in the design of our website.”

The hospital took to Twitter to say they are aware of the audio recording, saying “Care is individualized for each patient and always involves families making decisions in coordination with a team of highly trained pediatric specialists.”
