Despite constantly asserting that the police must be defunded, Massachusetts Representative Ayanna Presley has spent thousands of taxpayer dollars on private security.
The Daily Caller reported that Pressley spent $14,000 of her Member Representational Allowance (MRA) on “security service” between January and March 2022, according to the new Statement of Disbursements of the House records.
By comparison, in 2021 Presley spent $63,000 of her MRA on security services.
Democrat representatives like Presley seem to love spending money on security for themselves while advocating that public security forces like the police be defunded. If executed, this idea leaves average citizens defenseless against threats.
The house government website states, “The Member’s Representational Allowance (MRA) is intended for individual member offices’ expenditures and receipts during a single legislative year. The MRA is funded through fiscal year appropriations and authorized annually by the Committee on House Administration (CHA). It is non-transferable between legislative years.”
