Background Checks Did Not Stop Uvalde Or Highland Shooters

Father of Robert Cromo III, Robert Crimo jr. has claimed that just hours before the Highland Park shooting, he and his son were talking about other mass shooting.

He told the New York Post that they had discussed a mass shooting in Denmark where 3 people were shot outside of a shopping mall.

“He goes, ‘Yeah, that guy is an idiot.’ That’s what he said!” The father recalled. “I talked to him 13 hours before. That’s why I guess I’m in such shock. … Like, did he have a psychiatric break or something?” In reality, the shooting had been planned weeks in advance.

Steven Greenberg an attorney who represented sex trafficker and musical artist R. Kelly will defend the Crimo father in court.

Crimo Jr. did sponsor his son’s firearm license application but claims no other guilt on the subject. He says that the shooter went to the gun store himself, bought the guns, and was given a background check for all of them.

Crimo Jr. decided to sponsor the application only three months after authorities labeled Crimo III a “clear and present danger” when he threatened to kill his family. The shooter was relieved of a sword and 15 knives that were at his home, but his father told the Post that this was just a “childish outburst” and the knives were just part of a “collection”.

Democrats push for “universal background checks” each time a shooting is carried out. Both the Highland park shooter and the Uvalde shooter were given background checks and neither were prevented from obtaining their firearms despite each having disturbing criminal histories.
