Biden Ready To Send $3.5 Billion To Afghanistan

After allowing the Taliban to take Afghanistan, The Biden administration intends to send $3.5 billion to the terrorist-run nation.

The Daily Caller reported, The Biden administration plans to return billions in financial assets, frozen when the Taliban overran Afghanistan and ousted the central government, through a special “Afghan Fund” through Swiss financial organization, according to a joint statement from the U.S. Treasury Department and State Department.

Reports indicate that the funds won’t be released any time soon due to the fact that there are not any institutions in Afghanistan that the federal government feels it can trust.

The Treasury Department claims that the funds could be used by the Afghan government to finance important imports and repay debts. Though at the end of the day the government is run by the Taliban that refuses to budge on civil rights issues. Why not use the funds as leverage?

The U.S. Treasury Department gave the Afghanistan National Bank a list of requirements that would allow the money to be sent. These requirements would prevent the bank from falling under Taliban influence.

The Treasury Department also requires that the bank “instituted adequate anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism controls,” and bring in third-party monitoring to ensure that these requirements are met.

Previously the administration ruled out sending money to the bank out of fear that the money may be laundered to Ayman al-Zawahiri a high-profile terrorist leader.

Since then, al-Zawahiri has been killed by a drone strike. He was killed on July 31st, 2022 and Biden touted the killing on 9/11.

After Osama Bin Laden was killed Ayman al-Zawahiri became the leader of Al-Qaeda.

The President said “It took 10 years to hunt down and kill Osama bin Laden, but we did. And this summer, I authorized a successful strike on Zawahiri—the man who bin Laden was his deputy at 9/11 and was the leader of Al-Qaeda—because we will not rest. We’ll never forget, we’ll never give up and now Zawahiri can never again threaten the American people.”

According to the Daily Caller 70% of Afghan citizens claim that they do not have enough money to pay for basic living expenses.
