On Monday President Biden reversed former President Trump’s restrictions on transgenders joining the military.
During his address from the Oval Office, Biden said he was, “reinstating a position that previous commanders and as well as secretaries have supported.”
Biden continued to say, “And what I’m doing is enabling all qualified Americans to serve their county in uniform, and essentially restoring the situation as it existed before, with transgender personnel, if qualified in any other way, can serve their government in the United States military.”
Lloyd Austin, the new Secretary of Defense, commented on the subject during his Senate confirmation hearing before Biden’s executive order.
He said, “If you’re fit and you’re qualified to serve, and you can standards, you should be allowed to serve.”
