Celebrities React To Supreme Court Abortion Ruling

Several celebrities have voiced their opinions after the Supreme Court on Friday voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.

During a Green Day concert in London on Friday, Billie Joe Armstrong yelled “F*** America!” and claimed he was “renouncing his citizenship”.

“There’s too much f***ing stupid in the world,” he told the audience.

The musician has repeatedly used his musical platform to protest. Last month, he performed in front of a backdrop that read “f*** Ted Cruz”.

Armstrong has also criticized former President Donald Trump for “holding half the country hostage” and President George W. Bush and the Iraq War.

Olivia Rodrigo called out the Supreme Court during her performance at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK.

“I’m devastated and terrified and so many women and girls are going to die because of this,” she said.

“I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who showed us at the end of the day they truly don’t give a s*** about freedom,” Rodrigo continued.

She then addressed each of the Supreme Court justices that voted to overturn Roe, calling them out by name.

Another musician at Glastonbury Festival made comments about the ruling on Sunday.

“Wanna hear a secret girls? Your bodies were destined to be controlled and objectified since before you were born,” Lorde said while on stage.

“That horror is your birthright. But here’s another secret. You possess strength. That wisdom is also your birthright,” she added.

“I ask you today to make exercising that wisdom your life’s work because everything depends on it. F*** the Supreme Court,” she continued.

Other celebrities chose Twitter as the platform to share their opinion.

“They did it. THEY DID IT TO US! #SCOTUS has overturned #RoevWade, enshrined in the Constitution as settled law for over 50 years. How dare they? This #SCOTUS is absolutely tone-deaf to the will and even the actual needs of the American people,” tweeted Bette Midler.

“I’m absolutely terrified that this is where we are – that after so many decades of people fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies, today’s decision has stripped us of that,” said musician Taylor Swift.

Stephen King tweeted “It’s the best Supreme Court the 19th Century has yet produced”.

“Not too long ago, this would have been dystopian sci-fi. But the legacy of the 2016 election and the indelible mark of the GOP is printed here in black and white. How much farther this will go once again depends on American voters. Blame extremism or apathy, but this is America,” said Seth MacFarlane.
