Bryce Dallas Howard has revealed that her earnings from “Jurassic World” were far less than what was initially reported.
She also revealed that she was paid less than her co-star Chris Pratt in the reboot of the 1993 dinosaur film “Jurassic Park.”
In 2018, it was reported that Howard, 41, received an $8 million paycheck for her part in “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” while Pratt was given $10 million.
In a recent interview with Insider, Howard admitted that the pay discrepancy was larger than reported.
“The reports were so interesting because I was paid so much less than the reports even said, so much less,” she said.
“When I started negotiating for ‘Jurassic,’ it was 2014, and it was a different world, and I was at a great disadvantage. And, unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies, and so your deals are set,” Howard explained.
She did not disclose how much the pay gap was, but said she discussed the issue with Pratt, who pushed for equal pay on additional franchise opportunities.
“What I will say is that Chris and I have discussed it,” she said.
“And whenever there was an opportunity to move the needle on stuff that hadn’t been already negotiated, like a game or a ride, he literally told me: ‘You guys don’t even have to do anything. I’m gonna do all the negotiating. We’re gonna be paid the same, and you don’t have to think about this, Bryce,'” Howard explained.
“And I love him so much for doing that. I really do, because I’ve been paid more for those kinds of things than I ever was for the movie,” she added.
The two actors have co-starred in three “Jurassic World” films, which were released in 2015, 2018, and 2022.
“Jurassic World” was the second highest grossing film of 2015 after “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” reported Fox Business.
The third and final film, “Jurassic World: Dominion,” was released in June and has thus far grossed over $974M worldwide.
Other female actors, including Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Williams, and Ellen Pompeo, have opened up about the difference in pay they received for leading roles.
