On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a national advisory in regards to a potential terrorist threat after the inauguration of President Joe Biden.

The bulletin summary reads as follows:

“The Acting Secretary of Homeland Security has issued a National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin due to a heightened threat environment across the United States, which DHS believes will persist in the weeks following the successful Presidential Inauguration. Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence”.

A bulletin, which according to the DHS’ National Terrorism Advisory System, is the lowest threat level out of three. They state it, “Describes current developments or general trends regarding threats of terrorism.”

The duration of the bulletin, according to the document, is set to last until April 30, 2021, at 1:00 PM EST. It also states there is a possibility it could be lifted beforehand.

The advisory also detailed the possibility of potential “Domestic Violent Extremists” (DVEs) becoming inspired by the events of the Capitol Riot on January 6.

A detail in the bulletin says, “targeted individuals with opposing views engaged in First Amendment-protected, non-violent protest activity. DVEs motivated by a range of issues, including anger over COVID-19 restrictions, the 2020 election results, and police use
of force have plotted and on occasion carried out attacks against government facilities.”

Another point from the bulletin states the DHS will work with other law enforcement and federal agencies to, “protect people and infrastructure across the United States.”

At the bottom of the advisory, there’s information given on how to help aid law enforcement, the first bullet says to report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement or the FBI.

This has always been the intended target of DHS and the Patriot Act -Protecting the government from the people rather than protecting the people from terrorists.
