Lee Zeldin Attacker Arrested By FBI After Release By State Authorities

David Jakubonis, the 43-year-old army veteran who tried to assist are NY gubernatorial candidate and congressmen Lee Zeldin was re-arrested and taken into federal custody after being released by state authorities 

When taken in by state law enforcement, the attacker was almost immediately released as Zeldin predicted. In a stroke of irony, Zeldin’s speech was actually about New York’s flimsy criminal justice system and lax bail reforms that would allow dangerous criminals to be released on the same day that they are taken into custody.

On Saturday Daily Mail camera’s recorded the drunken attacker being hauled out of his home by the FBI only a mere  10 miles from the site of the incident. 

The Mail reported, A six-car motorcade pulled into Jakubonis’ apartment complex a little before noon on Saturday and left with Jakubonis in custody 15 minutes later.

The man was arraigned on Saturday and ordered to be held in prison until the next court date on July 27th. 

Jakubonis claims that he has no idea who Zeldin actually is and only attempted to take his microphone after being told that the congressman had disrespected veterans.

It is worth noting that the suspect allegedly had a psychological break after the loss of his wife during the same year that he was medically discharged from the Army. After his wife’s death, the two twin children they shared are in the custody of his brother. 

‘He became more and more detached over the years after his wife died.’ An unknown neighbor told the New York Post
