The popular account Libs of TikTok was locked out by Twitter over a series of tweets about drag shows that target children.
On May 30, the account tweeted “~MEGA DRAG THREAD~ They say it’s innocent. They say it’s just about inclusion and acceptance. They say no one is trying to confuse, corrupt, or sexualize kids. They lie”.
The post was deemed “abuse and harassment”. The account was restored after an appeal was lost and the offensive tweet was deleted.
Seth Dillon, the CEO of the Babylon Bee, tweeted “BREAKING: Twitter just locked out @libsoftiktok for posting a thread about several recent drag shows for kids”.
“The thread allegedly violates Twitter’s rules against ‘abuse and harassment.’ You know what’s actually abusive? Drag shows for kids,” he continued.
Libs of TikTok wrote an update on their Substack, saying “Twitter thinks it’s abuse to document drag shows. I think it’s abuse for drag shows to be taking place in front of kids”.
Thursday evening, the account tweeted “I’m back! Apparently posting videos and flyers of drag events is abusive but the actual events are just ‘innocent family friendly entertainment'”.
In May, Libs of TikTok was also suspended from Instagram for reportedly violating the platform’s Community Guidelines, but it was not specified how.
Instagram restored the account, claiming it was “disabled by mistake”. It has been suspended from Twitter twice in the past.
