After the Associated Press called the New Jersey race between Democrat Steve Sweeney who is currently Senate President, and truck driver Ed Durr who is a Republican, Sweeney is refusing to concede.
Ed Durr spent no more than $5,000 on his campaign against the political king pin, and has finished on top.
According to Fox News, Democratic New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney says thousands of “recently found” ballots supports his refusal to concede to a Republican challenger who ran a low-budget campaign.
“While I am currently trailing in the race, we want to make sure every vote is counted. Our voters deserve that, and we will wait for the final results,” the Senate President said.
Sweeney has been New Jersey’s Senate President since 2002.
Durr’s campaign advertisement was actually filmed using the camera of an IPhone. He claims that his win against Sweeney was the will of the people.
“WE did it” the Republican said in a Fox News interview, expressing that New Jersey has had enough.
Ironically, when Republicans refuse to acknowledge media outlets calling elections, they are shamed and labeled conspiracy theorists.
This illustrates the double standard applied to candidates who run as Republicans.
