Former President Barrack Obama recently claimed that Republicans do not care about making America a better place, but are rather attempting to “rig elections.”
“If you’ve got good ideas, people will flock to your ideas. But that’s not what they try to do. Instead you’re trying to rig elections!” Obama said in reference to election reform laws.
When Republicans pass voter integrity laws, their goal is not to rig elections. Their goal is to secure them. In the past our elections have been incredibly disorganized.
Most often Republicans push for laws that require photo ID and prevent poll warmers from harassing voters waiting in line.
Nearly all Democratic countries in the world require some sort of identification while voting for public offices. The United States has, for some reason, decided that these laws are racist and prevent people from voting.
One might wonder if Obama believes that the entirety of Europe is also rigging their elections…
There are no statistics that show Republicans are more likely to pos,sess photo ID than Democrats. There are also no figures that show a legitimate correlation between being black and lacking an ID.
Critics of voter ID laws attempt to create a narrative that because voter fraud rarely occurs, there is no need for laws that prevent it.
This idea collapses on its own lack of reason. If theft rates are incredibly low, would it be sensible to ban cameras and security guards from retail stores?
Just because a criminal issue happens rarely, does not mean that preventative measures should be taken away. Doing so would only make the crime easier and cause rates to skyrocket.
