Tensions are boiling over in France after President Emmanuel Macron asserted that the unvaccinated were no longer citizens in an attempt to “piss them off”.
Macron’s words immediately sparked outrage causing France to erupt in protests primarily centered around stopping vaccine mandates.
One such protest seems to have resulted in MP Stéphane Claireaux being attacked with dirt and seaweed at his home. A viral video shows the politician attempting to dodge what’s being thrown at him.
Many speculate that the reason protestors attacked Claireaux is that he has supported vaccine mandates creating unfavorable outcomes for individuals living in France who haven’t gotten the jab.
Paris protestors, on the other hand, decided that they would adopt Macron’s rhetoric. They shouted “we’ll piss you off” in a clear taunt directed at the President.
France, like many U.S. cities, has largely locked down for the unvaccinated. French citizens are required to show proof of vaccination status in order to enter virtually any business or public building.
Macron said that he will not send the unvaccinated to prison, but will work along with other politicians to remove their right and ability to function normally in society.
