Canadian Police Begin Arresting Journalists

The Canadian police have begun impeding the free press and arresting citizens acting as journalists.

A viral video circulated Friday, in which a man filming the police is stopped and told to turn away. When he says that he’s willing to comply, another officer approaches and makes an arrest.

“I already told you, this is your last warning. You’re not young by here ok?” The officer said. “You go by here again you’ll be arrested.”

“Okay,” the videographer said as he began inquiring about where exactly he was and wasn’t allowed to go. Just as the first officer was instructing him on where he could film a second officer approached.

“You’re under arrest,” the second officer said casually as quickly closed on the man. “For what?” The journalist asked. The officer’s response was inaudible.

He was likely arrested for being a journalist that was a little too snoopy as the government had invoked a “form of martial law” as the Toronto Sun described it.

In another incident before the Federal Emergencies Act was invoked, a 78-year-old great-grandfather was abused by the police in Ottawa after having honked at the truckers and given them a thumbs up.

The assault on the elderly man occurred not long after a 10-day ban on horn honking in downtown Ottawa was instituted.
