The New York Post reported, Some NYPD cops who have refused to get vaccinated have a new February deadline to get the jab – or else they will get canned, The Post has learned.
The updated guidance to the city’s municipal worker COVID-19 vaccine mandate was detailed in a Sunday night letter from the Sergeants Benevolent Association to its members.
NYPD Rookies fresh to the job who still haven’t shown evidence of a second dose are pushed out and placed on unpaid leave. This is likely why the NYPD is experiencing a shortage, and why NYPD officers are leaving to work in other states.
If the new hires still aren’t vaccinated by a new February 11th deadline, they’ll be terminated. Job lost, end of the story. Comply, or have your life ruined is the doctrine of the NYPD leadership and NYC politicians.
This issue is not only affecting Rookies. A letter sent to a union president indicates that a faction of detectives have also been placed on unpaid leave and subjected to the fast-approaching deadline.
At this time, it’s unclear how many officers will be affected exactly. Monday the department was supposed to inform all officers who were in jeopardy of losing their positions.
