Austria Protests Against Unvaccinated Lockdown

Multiple vaccine and lockdown protests have broken out across Europe as countries work to avoid a winter surge.

Demonstrations in the Netherlands have continued all weekend to protest a partial lockdown. On Friday, police in Rotterdam opened fire on protesters and seven people were injured.

The Austrian lockdown is set to begin Monday and will last a minimum of 10 days. People will only be allowed to leave the house to do activities such as going to the doctor and getting groceries.

Austria is also planning to mandate vaccines starting February 1.

Approximately 35,000 protesters participated in marches across Vienna over the weekend.

In Switzerland, 2,000 protesters gathered against a referendum about approving the government’s COVID-19 restrictions law.

In Italy, 3,000 people gathered in the capital’s Circus Maximus to protest “Green Pass” certificates that are being required to enter restaurants, cinemas, gyms, and sports venues.

In Northern Ireland, several hundred people gathered to protest vaccine passports outside the city hall in Belfast.

A Christmas market was taking place Saturday, where proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test was required to enter.
