U.S. Vice President, Kamala Harris, was at a press conference while she visited Mexico and was asked a question by a woman who was misidentified as a Univision reporter by Harris’ staff. Her name is Maria Fernanda Reyes.
Before Reyes asked Harris anything, she let her know who she voted for.
“Thank you, Madam Vice President. For me, it’s an honor because I was able to vote for the first time as a nationalized citizen and I voted for you,” said Reyes.
“My first question is: What would you say to these women, those mothers, and also women of color on both sides of the border — farmers, many of whom I see every day, as a message of hope? But also, what will you do for them in the coming years?” she continued.
Harris responded by saying, “That’s a great question, and thank you.”
In an interview with Fox News, Reyes said, “Everyone’s trying to twist it for their own agenda. “I don’t care. I asked a question. If people don’t like it, fine.”
Reyes also revelaed she is an entreprenuer based out of the San Fransico Bay area.
The New York Post wrote Reyes “was in Mexico City helping Mayan farmers and working with the poor to help them navigate the coronavirus pandemic when she was asked by fellow entrepreneurs to attend Harris’ event.”
It was discovered that there was also an employee of Univision called Maria Fernanda Lopez.
Lopez made it clear on Fox News, “My name is Maria Fernanda LOPEZ, I have never traveled in my life to Mexico. I was in Miami during the incident where a lady named Maria Fernanda REYES was presented by mistake as a Univision reporter, which is incorrect….”
Univision News President, Daniel Coronell, wrote a tweet on the incident clarifying that Reyes isn’t a part of the company. “Let it be clear to everyone that Ms. Maria Fernanda Reyes is not part of this media organization,” read part of his tweet.
