Wisconsin ‘Parent Bill Of Rights’ Would Let Parents Sue Schools For Exploiting Kids

A new bill has passed through the Wisconsin State Assembly and Senate that would allow parents to sue schools that don’t inform them about their child’s gender or social transition.

According to The Federalist, the bill is currently on the desk of Democratic Gov. Tony Evers.

Other states such as Kansas, Florida, Virginia, Missouri, Indiana, Texas, and Georgia, have passed or suggested similar legislation.

The bill says parents have “the right to review all medical records related to the child, unless specified otherwise in law or court order,” “the right to determine the names and pronouns used for the child while at school,” and “the right to review instructional materials and outlines used by the child’s school”.

It also says parents can sue governmental bodies or school officials if they violate the rights of parents or take over “the fundamental right of a parent or guardian to direct the upbringing, education, health care, and mental health of a child”.

The law was created after parents sued a Wisconsin school district for allegedly concealing information on a child’s gender transition from the parents, according to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The lawsuit was filed against the Kettle Moraine School District after a 12-year-old began a “social transition” and was “presenting to others as the opposite sex, primarily by adopting a new name and pronouns”.

Another Wisconsin school district told educators that parents are not “entitled to know their kids’ identities”.
